Hong Kong Times Square Causeway Bay, HK
Phase 2: A continuation of our first experiential installation art series, Colours in Nature, exhibited in Hong Kong Times Square (HKTS) in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong — a cultural destination with approximately 150,000 visitors traveling through the location per day.
Art directed and managed by artist and LBP project manager Danielle Garza, with designs from LBP graphic designer Esther Park, the installation consisted of 11 rooms in total, shifting between two phases over two months.
HKTS contracted LBP to design, project manage, and oversee fabrication elements for a summer series. The concept was to create a highly approachable and interactive installation for visitors of all ages and nationalities, with the theme of utilizing color and emulating natural atmospheres or landscapes through a wide use of materials.
Room themes included a range of Animals, Desert, Waterfall, Crystals, Snow, Green Forests, Rainbow, Moon, Sun, Flowers and Clouds, creating an immersive and truly unique experience varying from room-to-room. Through this captivating experience, visitors were reminded that nature is our most precious treasure, which surrounds us, cares for us and nourishes us in every moment — and it is essential for us to preserve nature for our future generations.
Colours in Nature was co-produced by LeBasse Projects and Hong Kong Times Square.

Target MacArthur Park, Los Angeles, CA
Celebrate LA! was a partnership of CicLAvia, the LA Philharmonic, and Community Arts Resources (CARS) to clear the roadways between Walt Disney Concert Hall and Hollywood, transforming them into an auto-free zone where people could walk, run, skate, scoot, bike, and wander however they like. Six hubs along the route featured art, food trucks, screen-printing, kid-friendly fun, dancing, and live music.
LBP teamed up with Target, Wasserman Media Group, and artist Sket One to transform these art hubs. A twist on the classic "pit stop,” the CicLAvia community was offered a chance to upgrade their experience with everything they may need for the journey ahead, as well as colorful artwork and activations along the way.

Downtown Santa Monica, Inc. Santa Monica, CA
LeBasse Projects was commissioned to serve as consultant and project manager for ROAM, a series of temporary art installations across Downtown Santa Monica (DTSM), including the annual holiday decorations.
The team at LBP drafted and launched the artist RFP process, made artist recommendations, and facilitated installation. DTSM partnered with LBP to commission the Australian duo DabsMyla to design and fabricate three street blocks of contemporary, interactive holiday-themed installations on the Third Street Promenade.
With an extremely tight timeline, all installations required artistic and engineering approval, as they would be positioned in the public’s right-of-way. We coordinated with the artists, multiple fabrication resources, the City of Santa Monica, and local businesses to address a myriad of concerns in order to efficiently and effectively deliver one of Santa Monica’s most successful holiday programs.
Through these installations, the Promenade was activated as a family-centric venue for holiday workshops and events and attracted visitors to photograph and share their experiences to the public-at-large.
This resulted in local TV, radio, and print coverage, more than 900K monthly social media impressions, an increase year-to-year of more than 10%, and was widely celebrated by the City of Santa Monica, its mayor, and local businesses.

In partnership with Hong Kong Times Square, LeBasse Projects co-produced “HAPPY TOBY TO YOU!” a grand celebration of Gary Baseman's iconic character Toby. 2015 marked Toby’s 10th year as a formal artwork, blurring the lines of fine art and toy culture. Since his inception, Toby has been a faithful friend and travel companion to Gary Baseman and to the entire world, experiencing multiple cultures and lands with an open heart and mind.
International multidisciplinary artist Gary Baseman debuts Toby’s birthday celebration at cultural destination Hong Kong Times Square, in a city rich with toy history and contemporary art. The exhibition included a view into the original 2005 painting exhibition “For the Love of Toby,” a history of Toby’s travels around the globe, and a new sculptural installation featuring Toby’s birthday party with his dear friends.
This new work was an exemplary example of Baseman’s pervasive art, blending media and disciplines. For three decades the artist has shown the seamless way in which his many characters exist for varied purposes and audiences.

Tomokazu Matsuyama :: Sky Is the Limit
In collaboration with Wharf Holdings, LeBasse Projects launched Sky Is the Limit, an exhibition by Tomokazu Matsuyama in Hong Kong. Artist Tomokazu Matsuyama created an all-encompassing experience, greeting hundreds of thousands of daily visitors to Harbour City, one of the largest business complexes in Asia.
Curated by LeBasse Projects, Matsuyama produced not only his largest outdoor sculpture, but the largest sculpture exhibited at Harbour City to date. The 6.5 meter-high (21.5 feet) stainless steel sculpture embodied Matsuyama's homage to the city of Hong Kong, where Eastern and Western cultures merge.
The Ocean Terminal also included an array of the artist’s patterns wrapping the walls, columns, and stairs of the entrance. The monumental installation was complimented by an exhibition of eight new canvas paintings and a smaller sculptural work located inside the Harbour City Gallery.
With this exhibition, Tomokazu Matsuyama joined the list of artists invited to showcase their works in Harbour City: celebrated American artist KAWS, Japanese master Yayoi Kusama, Chinese artist Yue Minjun, and Dutch conceptual artist Florentijn Hofman, among others.

Yoskay Yamamoto :: submerged
LeBasse Projects continued its exhibition series at Hong Kong Times Square with submerged, a spectacular installation from Yoskay Yamamoto. The exhibition featured a series of Yamamoto’s sculptures in a range of scales and sizes: from tiny, hand-carved works up to a pair of 30-foot-tall interactive sculptures. Through this special exhibition, Yamamoto aimed to uplift people’s spirit through their experience with the installation.
Housed within one of the largest sculptures was a “wishing tree”: Yamamoto’s concept based on the traditional Japanese temples and shrines, where visitors left wishes and prayers for themselves and loved ones on multicolored notes designed by Yamamoto as “leaves.” In the process, visitors transformed the wishing tree over the course of the exhibit.
The exhibition continued into the atrium gallery, which included 25 new hand-carved wood sculptures, six new paintings, several additional large-scale sculptures, and an artist designed floor pattern – covering the ground in the gallery and outdoor areas.
